Preparing for College

Gifts for Grads and Good Causes

I usually don't promote .com commercial sites here, but found one that I thought merits mentioning. is an online mall that has partnered with more than 1,400 stores including Amazon, Apple Store, Bloomingdales, Sephora and Target among others. The site lists hundreds of coupons and deals, including free shipping, percentages off, buy-one-get-one-free deals, and money back on future orders, and gives a percentage of every purchase back to the charity designated by its users.

The charity donation part is the reason I mention it here. As they enthusiastically mentioned in their message to me, "Graduation is right around the corner and a great opportunity to do a story on how friends and family can congratulate their recent graduate, save money on gifts, and simultaneously support the nonprofit organization they care about! When your readers buy their graduation gifts, they can (without spending anything extra) give money to the nonprofit of their choice!"

Here's how it works:

1. Go to

2. Designate your favorite cause (they work with more than 90,000 from the American Red Cross to the ASPCA to local causes).

3. Enter the store where you want to shop and get a list of coupons.

4. Shop as you normally would and a percentage of what you spend goes back to your favorite cause.

GoodShop has been featured by The View, Oprah Magazine, The New York Times, ABC News as well as hundreds of other press outlets. You can read more here.
